The Power of Sound

Every sound has a physiological effect. When you listen to a beautiful piece of music or inspirational words, a cascade of pleasure-producing chemicals course through your body, supporting health and wholeness. In contrast, studies of urban environments show that people subjected to ongoing noise pollution are more likely to suffer from stress and lowered immune function. Deepak Chopra

Everything is energy, which means everything is vibrating. Things exist because they are vibrating. Vibration is existence. This is physics.

We are all made up of atoms, and each atom vibrates at their core. Research reveals that most illnesses occur due to a disturbance within the frequency of each cell. Therefore, to live a happy, healthy and harmonious life, we must raise our frequency, or energy, or vibration.

Sound is vibration. Internationally renowned Japanese researcher Dr. Masaru Emoto studies the effect of sound on matter, specifically on water. He discovered that thoughts have a direct influence on the structure of water. For example, labelling a jug of water with words such as ‘love and thanks’ shapes beautiful crystals and that water therefore carries a positive healing energy. Similarly, destructive thought patterns like ‘anger’ or ‘hate’ create disharmonious or incomplete water crystals. This revelation is so profound, particularly considering that most of our body is made of water (as is our planet), sound will travel to each and every cell. This means that infusing our mind with pure, positive thoughts and vibrations contained in mantra impacts our entire body and whole wellbeing.

If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. Nikola Tesla

Why does sound meditation work?

Mantra, simply meaning ‘mind projection’, is the combination of sounds that are designed to produce a specific effect on the mind and its functioning, raising and shifting consciousness by the vibrational rhythm that is produced by repetition. In short, mantra regulates the mind. Higher energy thoughts are the medicine of the mind and chanting mantra is the Art of raising the mental frequency with thought patterns.

Mantra are energy-based sounds.

There are two types of energies: low and high level energies. Low level energy can be identified as negative thoughts or emotions, fear, anxiety, dis-ease and judgment. High level energy is love, joy, peace, health, harmony and positive thinking.

It’s all in our mind. What we think we become; we are our thoughts and our emotions and we can directly experience and witness their effect in our physical wellbeing.

Chanting is yoga of the mouth. It is the complex exchange between the upper palate of the mouth and the tongue which affects 84 reflex (pressure) points that are located there. These meridians are balancing the energy in the body and create healing in the brain, glandular & immune systems.

If you have experienced Naam Meditation before, you know that listening to the mantra, the voice and tune requires a lot of concentration and awareness. In Universal Kabbalah, the ears are linked to wisdom and wisdom is directly linked with consciousness. As we let go and let the mantra penetrate through our ears we open up to receive that ancient wisdom that stays true throughout the ages. That is how you raise your consciousness with the repetition of the word (Naam).

Your brain is your command centre. How you develop it will determine what you make of your life. What does a pilot do when the weather is rough? He rises above the clouds. The existence of a problem in your life just means you need to keep going up. Just keep raising your vibration. Dr. Joseph Michael Levry
